7b was the implicit differentiation one, right ^^?

If so, the answer that's been agreed upon is 11/8.

My go at answers

thanks - these are what I got too.

for 2)b)ii) I got

-1.19, they ask you for the MAXIMUM value from √29cos(x+1.19) which will be √29

Therefore √29cos(x+1.19) = √29

cos(x+1.19) = 1
x + 1.19 = 0
x = -1.19

So why is it 5.09 where as it could be both...

because the range was 0<x<2pi

Do you remember the actual diff equation they asked you to solve?

Added it to the MS in the first post!

On a slightly related note how harsh are examiners if you forget to mark the question reference but your work/answer is clearly for that question?

I'm pretty sure I didn't make that mistake but at the same time I always have a nagging feeling maybe I did in one of my exams.

grade boundary predictions?

I find it really hard to predict C4 grade boundaries so not too sure! Think I got 65/75 :/

(let theta equal the acute angle)

Therefore, it came from cos(theta) = 14/28
=> cos(theta) = 1/2
=> theta = 60 degrees

i got -10/root56 root14 from doing a.b=mod a mod b costheta

1. the marks for 1b were 6 not 5,
2. the differential equation solution was x = 1/5[(-1/2(1+t)^-1 + 5/2)^2 - 4],
3. the constant in the penultimate question was a not k, as stated in the question.
remove (OR 5.72???) from Q2 and we should be fine. Not sure about the vectors Part C or 8 part B though.

Also 8 part A is misleading.

Go away. You're literally not funny at all :/

It seems we have agreed on all answers now except 2bii) what were the answers sure it asked for Root29cos(x + 1.19) =-1???

I got 0.57 and 3.33
Mine is pretty similar, (11, 2, 0) and (23, 6, -8). I probably have made a mistake with the y coordinate.

question 2 needs sorting and for vectors I swear it was E(11,0,0) and E(23,4,-8)
(edited 8 years ago)
How many marks do you think an A will be?
