Try all the shops, supermarkets, fast food places, restaurants etc in the area. There must be some who are taking on part time staff. Especially as places will be starting to advertise for xmas staff soon.

yeah small businesses always are looking for someone, but they don't advertise due to cost. Just call them up, and if they have any places, visit them with your CV.
xmas she will be most likely in her home town, uni usually get 4 weeks holiday
