Zoology 2016 Offers

Hi everyone! I only managed to send off my UCAS app the day before deadline due to some issues but my choices are Zoology at Anglia Ruskin, Lincoln, Exeter, Bangor and Leicester, but I've already got a conditional offer from Lincoln so I'm stoked! Maybe it's a good sign that I got an offer only 12 or so hours after they received my application? :'D
Also, I've received confirmation emails from all my choices aside from Anglia Ruskin, do ARU usually send confirmation emails?

Thank you! I applied for the Exeter year abroad course, so it's definitely one of my favourite choices
I'm doing a one year access to pharmacy and biomedical science course so I don't have predicted grades as in such, but I'm currently receiving majority merits which is what the condition for Lincoln is

Oh right! I'm not gonna pretend I know much about access courses What are they like?? And it sounds like you'll just have to continue with what you are already doing to read zoology at Uni I've applied for the 3-year Zoology Bsc course but I am thinking about perhaps getting transferred to the one with a year abroad if things go well

The access course is like a full A level condensed into one year, usually aimed at mature students, my one covers biochemistry, biology, chemistry and further chemistry, it's graded like pass, merit and distinction, pass being like a C, merit B and distinction A, it's pretty full on so I do worry that I might slip a little in the coming months

The study abroad thing seems like a great opportunity so I'm hyped for that haha, hopefully I get it

I guess the prospect of actually being able to do what you want at the end of all of it will give you enough motivation to keep you going for, what, 5-6 months? Then it's all done! Have you had any relevant work experience? (I'm assuming you are a mature student so you may have had some time off after your a-levels)

Yeah I am trying to stay motivated, I definitely want this baaadd haha. I have been volunteering at my local animal shelter since late 2014 but that's about it :'D
I'm 21 so perhaps not as mature as some of my class mates haha, but a lot of my time has been more so devoted to full time jobs for money, sadly unrelated to my chosen career, what about you?

haha same. Who doesn't here? Oh fair enough! I have only ever had 1 paid job haha but I've done a wee bit of volunteering here and there. I have done volunteering at a birds of prey centre, a vet clinic, a dog shelter and so on. Oh I've also been shadowing SPCA inspectors on rescues for a few years. Love it! As weird as it may sound, getting work experience has become a bit of a hobby for me haha.

Oh wow, you've had quite a bit of experience! Quite a few years back I volunteered for the pdsa but that was even before I decided on a career path haha. And no it's not weird at all! I would count my weekend volunteering at the animal shelter as a hobby too, it's super fun and extremely rewarding

Haha just a bit Yes true! Although they can take up a lot of your time. I had to take three buses to get to a centre I used to volunteer at!

At least that shows dedication

I am currently doing geography at Reading but one of my friends does Zoology. She really enjoys it, and has got to do a range of practicals, which I have also found quite interesting. For example she got to go bird-watching for one of her modules. We also have the Cole Museum of Zoology on campus which has over 3500 specimens which they display around 400 at a time, its really interesting and is a great resource to have access to as part of your course. Also Reading is a great campus, so offers you a lot as well as just a really good course. Our campus has a green flag and lots of different places to explore, such as our Harris gardens and the Wilderness. There is lots of wildlife, so yesterday I saw a fox just wondering near the lake and we saw a deer in the Harris Gardens.

I've applied for Zoology at Salford, Anglia Ruskin, Liverpool John Moores, Bangor and Cornwall.
Anyone else applied to these? Got offers from all but Anglia Ruskin, still awaiting a reply.

a bit off topic but...hey im thinking about doing geography at uni maybe at reading what is it like? and what do you hope to do with geography in the future?

Congrats on your offers! I've applied to Anglia Ruskin and Bangor, not received anything from either of them yet, when did you apply??

Thank you! I applied way back in December. Bangor took maybe 2 weeks to reply but offered me a wrong offer first (320 UCAS and put me on a specialised course thing) then changed my offer to 300 UCAS without the specialised course thing.
I'm worried about Anglia Ruskin because I know a lot of people have had offers back for Zoology from them
