How did you get in and, more importantly, how did you get out?

The camp?
We came in and came out by foot, we stayed like less than one hour unfortunately. Nobody stopped/threatened us, even the police who could clearly see what we were doing. Our coach driver drove close the opening and let us go a few minutes from it.
most of them speak English though?

More importantly are you claiming that Britain should let these freeloaders in and no questions asked? As is Merkel's idea.

Which sweatshop-assembled smartphone was this risible hypocrisy posted from, I wonder?

No, not all of them, otherwise communication would have been much easier. A few had a good level of English.
So I know you said you didn't get to see the women, but do you have an idea of how many men there were compared to women? 50:50 ? Or was there a bias?

What kind of jobs and backgrounds did the people you speak to come from?

How did they get to France? (smuggled by boat, if so where from)

Christ, that connection was weaker than my 1998 dialup internet line.
OP did you go into the brick building the French had to constriuct for women because they kept on getting raped and forcibly pimped out?

Whatever one's political stripe, the term 'freeloaders' as a pejorative epithet to describe people who have been uprooted from their ancestral homeland and seen everything—and in some cases, everyone—they hold dear systematically and relentlessly brutalised out of existence, from someone who effectively owes the sum total of their economic opportunity and prosperity to an accident-of-birth whose odds may very well be likened to those of winning the lottery, is a rank hypocrisy deserving only of the most fervent ridicule. Indeed, it is exactly this kind of pervasive, obfuscating and mendacious lack of intellectual honesty which largely accounts for why I haven't bothered debating anything of real-world significance outside H&R since 2006.

Not sure why the OP is just ignoring comments critical of the so called refugees despite them not being racist, Islamophobic or xenophobic...

That's because any narrative other than these guys all being from war-torn countries like Syria, being families as opposed to being mainly men and all doctors, engineers and lawyers is racist, Islamophobic and xenophobic.

What a baffling dichotomy.

it is clear that many migrants who claim to come from Syria are not Syrians at all. Most don't have any papers, and apparently, fake Syrian passports are sold In Istanbul for as little as 150 dollars.

However, some of the migrants are actually Syrians, and even some non-Syrians are in fact persecuted people. You have to sort them out from all the others : for this, however, they should contact authorities and claim asylum, and this is exactly what the people in Calais do not want to do, because then they would have to stay in France until their situation is examined

The people in Calais start from the assumption that they can choose where to migrate to : something that of course is a highly personal and inaccurate interpretation of present asylum rules. It is called asylum shopping. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Asylum_shopping

Is that what you use then? Funny, I don't use mobile phones, and I suppose you vet everything you buy. When are you going to realise that we are not responsible for the selfmade **** holes of the world, so trying to lay your champagne Socialist guilt trip on me is not going to work. So it is not me who is being a hypocrite, unless you are volunteering to take on the social and economic strain of feeding the world.

By the way, these economic migrants have not been uprooted, they have decided to enter Europe solely to sponge off wealthier nations. Could you imagine the USA tolerating the same scenario, massed migrants who have refused to register at the first country they enter in the hope of entering the US from Mexico.

You were there in the camp for an hour, and you are some kind of expert on this migrant mess? That other poster got it right, you were visiting a zoo reading the little plaques and now consider yourself to be some kind of Attenborough.

Was this just a school trip from some Islamic Academy?

'Asylum seekers' who just happened to pass the entirety of safe Europe to get to Calais, and who are in safe France but not claiming asylum. If they were true asylum seekers they wouldn't be picky...

And you, being the utter hypocrite you are ignore any evidence that these people aren't all criminals and rapists and the vast majority are decent people escaping a war zone.
To see a Jewish person so opposed to allowing refugees in is quite disgusting really given the events of the 1940s when every country shut their borders and said 'not our problem'.

Some people learn nothing. Remember that next time you slate any country for not letting Jews in during the 30s/40s.

The double standards yet again are nothing short of remarkable, we bomb Syria to pieces and then complain when the people living there being bombed seek a safe haven here.

My friend pointed out that it didn't feel like a first world country

It was before the migrants got there.

Why don't people follow what has been said? The OP made it clear that these freeloaders are from various places, they are the typical economic refugees, not Jews trying to escape Nazi oppression.
What percentage of them were working age males?

What are you talking about?
They are escaping Syria you know, the country in a civil war which is now also being bombed bu Russia, the US and UK. Yet they are economic migrants?

They are escaping a civil war, not travelling across the world on an incredibly unsafe boat so they can work in a club toilet selling watered down aftershaves.
