If evolutionary come up in general for aggression, will it be best to explain one in detail like group displays and then infidelity and jealousy briefly?

Really wish this paper was like 2 hours, don't feel like there's enough time!

Are you talking about the biosocial essay or the one on cultural influences on romantic relationships? There is no 'cultural influences on gender roles'

i've got one for cultural influences on gender roles? don't seem to have any ao1 for it though...

That's my problem - I don't know whether to be using all the studies like Mead and Berry and Williams and Best as AO1 or AO2 because either way it is leaving the other section completely limited??

Its the last section of the gender topic with Mead etc

Oh right! I forgot about that.

A division of labour is found across all cultures. Food prep and child care is done by females, hunting and providing resources is done by males. Munroe and Munroe did a cross-cultural study and found this to be the case. Women appeared to be socialised for obedience and responsibility, males, independence and self-reliant. Gender roles would then form based on this.

Another area analysed was tempermant within gender roles across societies. Mead et al looked at subcultures of Papua New Guinea and found generally men were more aggressive than females but this was not always the case. Arapesh people-both gentle, Mundugumor - Both aggressive and violent, Tchambuli - Women were more domineering than men.

Degree of cultural relativism with men being innately more aggressive but the degree to which this is shown is determined by culture through nurture and the environment. The study was only featured on subcultures of PNG so lack external validity to wider generalisation.

Is this helpful? I can provide more points

so do you think it's likely to come up? i havent prioritised it at all...
Guys a important question if it says outline one psychological explanation of anxiety for eating behaviour what would you choose?

So is your overriding *point* that culture has no influence since similar divisions of labour and aggression differences etc are found across all cultures -suggesting the differences are innate? Sorry if I'm completely wrong :s-smilie:

I think there's a possibility. It hasn't come up in any form in recent years

With the evaluation of the Mead study, culture does play a role. Although men seem to be innately more aggressive, some may not be. Some may be gentle but it depends on culture through nurture and environmental factors.

I don't think they would ask for evolutionary in general, they are two different points on the spec so they will ask for one specifically.

It was the PSAY4 exam that was stolen and replaced, not PSAY3.

For eating behaviours, could a 24 marker be 'outline and evaluate biological explanations for an eating disorder' without mentioning psychological explanations (or vice versa) or can the question only be a combination of psychological AND biological explanations?

Personally I'd do the behavioural approach aka SLT because with SLT being a thing in so many topics I'd be pretty sure I've got at least a couple marks lol

(also I assume you mean Anorexia not anxiety?)

Pretty sure they can and are likely to be separate. The way I learnt them was as separate questions at least.
