When I had a look at the examiner report it said that reductionism was "best reserved" for biological theories. Surely that means you can use it for other theories as long as you apply it to them properly?

Nope others have said such as saj who did loopa and teachers who are examiners aswell as aqa saying it should only be used for bio theories and to use limited. They did say best reserved but people have said it doesnt gain credit because the term is used wrong.

CAN WE PLEASE GET OVER PSYA3
PSYA4 IS ON TUESDAY AND I HAVENT EVEN LOOKED AT THE TOPICS YET
the predictions better be right because i simply don't have time to learn them all, i can only learn the predictions... anyone else in the same boat?

Problem with this paper is the fact papers were stolen it messes up predictions as we dont know if the same questions will be used again.

For the aggression question did anyone else write about the power-threat hypothesis or the dehumanisation theory?

Yep

Thankyou!!! The markscheme and Saj can't be wrong!

This is an essay on food preference not aggression therefore it is not the same thing just because it is a question of evolutionary explanations. Secondly, it was a 4 MARK AO1 there is no way they would make you write two VERY detailed and VERY different evolutionary explanations for aggression worth only 4 marks. I don't think it was a requirement and Im not saying that those that did write both will be marked down, but stop arguing this is if you keep failing to provide conclusive evidence for this specific question. Thirdly, I don't doubt Saj however, this post was on a general level and obviously not specifically for aggression.

sorry buddy, you cannot be right

Maybe, but then again my teacher is an examiner for AQA and she has never said anything about that or ever used the term limited. Oh wells, I guess we'll just have to see in the examiners report this year

Considering gender schema came up when it wasn't even a prediction and people were so sure it wouldn't come up, it's your choice whether you'd wanna risk it or not.

I would be a dream if biological explanations of schizophrenia came up, but it won't because it came up last year. I have a feeling that therapies will come up which I will not be happy about. Does anyone have information on psychological explanations and therapies??
For eating behaviour, i was expecting to get neural mechanisms right so I learnt that thoroughly. I sorta knew the outline for AFFH so I wrote that and I linked the LH and VMH theory to the question. I made up evaluative points, do you think I could still do well ?!
Hi guys, I am in need of desperate help! For research methods on next weeks exam how do statistics work? I know that's a lot to ask for but I don't get it, what bit of the table do I look at for will coxon, spearman rho, etc?? Also does anyone have a rough essay plan / things to write for classification and diagnosis of schiz??! Not relying on loopa for anything
Guys , pls how do I write a good sz essay? I need help
I missed out about 22 marks in PSYA3. Could I still get an A overall? (got a B at AS)
Is it okay to refer to schizophrenia as SZ in the essay - (after writing '...schizophrenia (SZ)' at the beginning of the essay?
anyone do group displays for the aggression one?
Hoping issues of classification and diagnosis comes up for depression. It's the one I'm most prepared for as I know the essay for a 24 marker. Do you think there's a chance of it coming up even though it asked for it last year as 4 marker?

Biological approach could come up since there are only 5 essays possible for Schizophrenia. Look at June 2012 and Jan 2013. Biological and psychological therapies came up twice in a row.

It was a requirement, AQA put an S on the end of the word explanations, can you not comprehend this means they want more than one theory? Do you not understand the meaning plural words? There's no dancing around it, AQA has done this before to catch people out by not reading the question properly, and they've done it again. Saj's post was on a general level which applies to all topics in unit 3, he was talking about the unit 3 exam. The phrasing of the question isn't different for different topics, and no matter what the topic is, if the word "explanation" in the question is plural, clearly what they are asking for is more than one explanation, no matter what the topic is. I just hope they count sexual jealousy and infidelity as two separate explanations, or come results day the grade boundaries will be very low.
Also why are aqa inclined to write reductionist in their textbooks for all explanations, means I wrote it for gender schema😪
