it had decreased by 80% so v = 0.2v0. :frown:

noooooo :'(
im sure im not the only person going through trying to find the unofficial mark scheme and being unsuccessful.

Like 10 people have asked as well and everyone has been ignored, can someone just say what page its on plz

Can't remember how many marks it was worth but you might still get 1 or 2 for using the right equation and rearranging.

For the 2nd last multiple choice with the train through the magnetic field did anyone get C?

I just got whichever one was Blv. I just multiplied all the numbers together to get the answer

how many would you lose if rest was correct, also ecf for resistance?

do you know what the question before time constant and the answer to the final q1 were

Post 1394 (DesignPredator) has most of the answers for section B.

If you go off the fact most people found it slightly easier than last year's paper then maybe 115-117 UMS? Last year 62/63 was within the CAP I think

I think 62/63 will be 120 UMS (just) - around what I think I've got as well.

Last year's cap was 58 or 59 (one of the two) so I can't imagine more than a 5 mark rise tbh...

I had 5 minutes left and I was confused with what the axle was so decided: **** it just gonna multiply all the values.

The question gave velocity, not speed. Therefore the direction is already taken into account with the velocity.

So it was definitely -mv/N

Nah because the arrow on V was pointing to the left so that means that V is positive.

Had the arrow pointed in the direction of the alpha particle it would have been negative.

For the train one? That's correct. Blv gives the same units as BA/t

Spoiler

Actually I think the boundaries were unusually high last year if I remember right. I might be thinking of a different year though ???
Either way it's pretty safe and up there in terms of UMS.
But majority-wise we seem to have acknowledged it was a better paper than last year so the boundaries will probably be slightly higher, maybe by 4 marks at the most? Who knows?
Section B was pretty nice compared to last year but the MC was a bit worse for me personally.

I have the multiple choice paper: I'll post the answers on here in a bit

Can you make a separate thread for it? Everyone is lost in here.

You are thinking of a different year. Last year had extremely low boundaries (49 A, 54 90%, 59 full UMS).

You're right that's rather low. Was it 2014 then? I feel like it was recent. I swear it's been 61 for an A* before...maybe I'm wrong
Last years Section B was quite pedantic so that makes sense tbh:frown:

Do you think the boundaries will fluctuate much from last year?

The A and E boundaries are usually similar but the 90% (A*) conversion point is often manually adjusted. It was June 2014 that had an A boundary of 53 and an A* boundary of 61, even though in theory the A* boundary should have been 58 (difference between A and B). I think the adjustment partly depends on how well people do in Unit 5 as well, because the June 2014 Unit 5 had extremely low boundaries, and keeping A* at 58 for Unit 4 might have resulted in too many people getting an A* overall.

A and A* boundaries:

June 2010: 48 (54 A*) 18/25 + 30/50
June 2011: 50 (56 A*) 18/25 + 32/50
June 2012: 51 (57 A*) 20/25 + 31/50
January 2013: 51 (57 A*) 20/25 + 31/50
June 2013: 53 (60 A*) 19/25 + 34/50
June 2014: 53 (61 A*) 19/25 + 34/50
June 2015: 49 (54 A*) 19/25 + 30/50
Do you think that unit 5 will be harder becuase unit 4 paper is kinda decent ? Hopefullly i dont trigger anyone

Oh so they don't really fluctuate greatly, I was wrong. Last year was just strangely lower comparatively. Thanks!
