How marks was the question with finding wquation for normal?
I conpletely forogt it was normal and jus did gradient equals 2.
Any idea how many mark it was.

My sister just sat this exam and she realised afterwards that she completely missed out the last question because she didn't see it.

Will this be catastrophic if she wants a high A?

Last question was only 6 marks. 90 UMS is usually about -6/-7 marks so she might even get an A* if she did all else great.

Gradient is worked out by differentiating:

Y=x^2 + 3 + 4(x-2)^-1
( can't remember what B was but B is irrelevant in this question)

dy/dx = 2x - 4(x-2)^-2

If you differential is right then maybe not many marks is lost.

everything was correct expect my retard brain that say it was 2x-4/(x-2)^2 and decided to plus for some reason

I think so

mate are we the same person? exactly what I did, long division, then my remainder cancelled it exactly like that you boss lad

wow what a crazy coincidence!! oh wait that's the only way to do it

G(x)= arc sin x
So 3g(x+1) + pi = 3arc sin x+1 + pi
Arc sin (x+1) = -1/3pi
X = sin (-1/3 pi) -1

if G(x)= arcsin(x) then G(x+1)= arcsin(x) +1 not arcsin(x+1) so 3g(x+1) +pi = 3arcsin(x) +3 +pi

then continue to solve

did you remainder end up like so

4x+12

4(x+3)/(x+3)(x-2)

so 4/x-2

Yeah exactly that

Can anybody remember how much was question 1 a) worth?

5 I think
on the Rcos(theta + a) question i got for the value of a i got tan^-1(a/b) with the a and b the wrong way round... how much will this cost me?

Not really there were 2 ways you could have done it you melt, was referring to how we got exact answers earlier on in the thread as we discussed them.

No it won't not worth worrying about it. The last q was worth 8 marks, a high A would be about 65/75 being pessimistic so tell her not to worry. Generally people seem to be classing this as a hard paper so a high A might well be 62/75:smile:

Guys, let me on it. I missed the last one too. I feel really bad.
How many marks do 1b , 2b and 6b worth?
For 1b I wrote a=6 and a=-5 but forgot to reject the answer a=-5
For 2b I misread and put -rt5<x<rt5 but managed to work out rt5?

For the question with the modulus graph, for y = 0, i wrote 0.5ln(6.25), not noticing 6.25 can be rooted to 2.5. How many marks was that? One I get full marks, or do those questions typically require a simplified answer?
How many marks for:

1) The inequality question (answers of sqrt5 and -sqrt5)
2) The question where you had to choose two values and show the change in sign
3) The question where you had to find the minimum value (answer of 80-something)

Would appreciate it if someone could tell me how many marks each of these were worth

Tough paper in comparison to others, I predict 64 for an a*
What did everyone get for the question involving acosec(by)?
I got 8cosec(4y) but seen some people saying it's (1/2)cosec(4y)
Guys how many marks was question 6
Can anybody remember how much was question 2a) worth

How many marks for Q3C, 6B, 7AB?
Few questions:

5ai - how many marks would one get for getting the turning point at 0.1608 rather than 0.9643,

6b how many marks would i get for finding the equation of normal for the simplified equation. I differentiated y= x^2 + 3 + (4x+12)/(x-2) and did the normal steps, I know the divison was wrong as forgot (x+3) on denominater. (Since part B was solely dependent on part A surely there would be marks for method)

8b I thought it was within the range -pi/2 and +pi/2 so only had 2 solutions within the limits, how many marks would i get/lose for this?

thanks
