Year 12 Maths Study Group (new spec!)

Welcome to the Year 12 Maths Study Group :party2:

As maths is the most popular A level subject nationally, we thought that we should have a community for all the year 12s taking maths to get help on any maths problems they have and talk about all things maths! You can ask questions in this thread, or you can post it in the maths forum here.

I'll be adding more resources as time goes on (and more are released for the new spec!) but I'll start off with these:

What exam board are you on?
Are you being entered in for any exams this year?
What optional modules are you doing for further maths (if applicable)?
What's your favourite topic so far?
What do you want to study at uni?

All the usual maths posting guidelines apply (as well as the community guidelines), so please bear this in mind when posting!

OCR A
I'm being entered in all 4 of my AS Exams, Further Maths, Maths, Physics, Chemistry.
Mandatory: Core Pure, Mechanics, Statistics (for Further)
Induction.
Chemical Engineering.

I'm on edexcel.

Yes. Im taking maths in Y12 and FM in Y13.

Possibly FS1 and FM1 for optional modules. *cries*

Umm ... uh ... does BMO1 geometry and combinatorics count as favourite topics 'so far'?

I want to do maths at Cambridge.

Single + as much further maths as I can self-teach (probably AS further maths).
What exam board are you on?
Edexcel.

Probably not, unless I work much faster!

FP1 & FP2...yep, I love pure maths :heart:

What's your favourite topic so far?
Probably proofs (chapter 7), but I like most topics that aren't stats.
What do you want to study at uni?
Linguistics :h:

Good idea!
I'm taking maths and further maths, with WJEC.
That means I have Units 1-4 to sit(2 pure, 2 applied) this summer, and then more units for further next year(no options).
So far my favourite topic is everything and anything involving Calculus.
I'll be applying for medicine at university :smile:

Maths. A joint honours with compsci is a vague possibility.

yep...AS maths and AS further maths
What optional modules are you doing for further maths (if applicable)?
Currently seem to be a mechanics and statistics unit...although I'm sort of hoping my college do what they used to and offer a variety and let you choose! Mechanics will go in 10 seconds flat :lol:

What's your favourite topic so far?
We haven't really got beyond GCSE in maths...although I quite like circles which we'll be starting after half term.
Further maths...haven't found either complex numbers or matrices particularly inspiring so we'll see what comes next!

Preferably at Oxford (nothing like aiming high...)

F*ck me this is keen

I’m taking both maths and further maths

Maths on MEI, no idea about FM

Both A levels are being examined next year

No idea what optional units yet because we are doing maths this year and further maths next year, and our maths is 100% linear.

Enjoyed binomials a fair bit

Preferably want to study medicine at university, preferably Oxford or UCL.... haha funny joke
