What areas of biology interest you as a start? I might be able to help from there

Human biology , so things like diseases and drugs.

Infectious diseases or chronic diseases?

Drug development? redeploying current drugs to treat diseases?

Molecular mechanisms of diseases- are there new ways to treat diseases by targeting things we haven't considered?
As you mention "diseases and drugs", I could suggest the below:-

1. "Parkinson's disease: its causes, clinical features and modes of therapy - could planting of stem cells ultimately result in a cure?"

(look up: basal ganglia (caudate nucleus, putamen, substantia nigra); dopamine receptors, L-dopa, benserazide, side effects of phenothiazines and of metoclopramide, tremor, dyskinesia.)

OR

2. "Recent advances in the treatment of cancer - the use of novel techniques to selectively target cancer cells, sparing normal tissue".

(look up: carcinoma; sarcoma; carcinogens; control of cell division and its derangement in neoplastic (neo = new; plasma = living material, in this case cells) disease (cancer is caused by abnormal, uncontrolled growth of tissue); the attachment of chemotherapeutic agents to antibodies; different mechanisms of action of anti-cancer drugs [e.g. anti-metabolites like 5-fluorouracil, inhibitors of DNA synthesis like cytarabine, inhibitors of protein synthesis like L-asparaginase].

OR

3. You could expand on a disease about which you are taught in some syllabuses at your level e.g. cystic fibrosis or myasthenia gravis.

If you need further guidance on e.g. sources of reliable and authoritative info or, at a later stage, proof-reading, feel free to PM me.
