Hi, hopefully I'm not posting this too late, but below are some resources for tomorrows exam. I did make a post way back in feb which had quite a lot of responses/requests for these resources, so the chances are you may already have what I'm posting again down below, beside that, good luck everyone!

SECTION B:

In terms of seen poetry I don't have resources except for handwritten *very messy* notes, but I would recommend looking on youtube at Mr Bruff or Mr Salles, their videos are great!

Unseen Poetry -

****I am also sitting the exam tomorrow and by no means am I a professional, so please don't solely rely on my advice, if all goes wrong (which I hope it doesn't) please do not hold me to blame - this a disclaimer! *****

Moving on frm that, in my last unseen poetry assessment, I scored 22/24 from following these five steps:

STEP 1:

read the poem and look for LITERAL meaning, what is the poem about literally.

STEP 2:

look for poetic devices; similes metaphors possessive nouns etc

STEP 3:

look at structure and form; is it a sonnet? a dramatic monologue? is it tightly controlled in rhyme scheme or iambic pentameter? how many stanzas? if its one long stanza, its usually to create a feeling of being overwhelmed, couplets usually symbolize unity etc

STEP 4:

look for subtleties and inconsistencies; this is anything you find that does NOT fit in with the literal meaning of the poem, often a phrase that stands out, or some kind of juxtaposition.

STEP 5:

answer the question. what is the relationship with _______? analyse specific uses of language structure and form, are there any potential conflicts? could it be argued that ______? bring together all of your points in a hypothesis: this would usually be a two lined argument - the poet presents _____ to look like ______ but its undermined by /actually conveys ______
