Maths module calculation help!!!!

I needed some help calculating percentages for a module

I need to get 70% of a module. Exam is worth 80% and assignment 20%. I’ve gained 19% of the assignment but need to work out how many marks I need in the exam to get the remaining to equate to 70%. I’m assuming it would be 70%-19% and using that to calculate 80% worth of the exam

The exam is out of 100 marks. Could someone help me know what marks I need for an overall 70% ? Thank you?
To get a module grade of 70% you would need 83 (82.75) raw marks in your exam that is worth 80%.

I've just realised this is in the a-levels section - have I interpreted what you meant in your first post correctly?

Is this including the percentage from the assignment ? Overall?

I was told 64 marks is needed. So 70-19 = 51
51% of 80% = 51 divided by 80 x 100 ?

As I understand your explanation, you already have 19 'marks' / 100. You need 70/100 overall, so that leaves 51 'marks' to get, i.e. you need 51/80 on the exam, or (just under) 64%.

That is correct.

So 70-19 = 51
51% of 80% = 51 divided by 80 x 100 ?

It's actually 5180100=63.75\frac{51}{80}*100=63.75

It had better not be anything requiring proportions though ..

That was the part I wasn't sure about - whether the coursework gained 19% of the raw marks for the module or 19% of its own component marks. Glad you cleared it up!

The assignment was out of 100 marks and I got 95%. Our if the 100 marks meaning it would be 19% out of 20%. The overall assignment was 20% does that make sense ?

So it was 100 marks but was 20% and I got 19% of that 20%

Does that make sense ?

Just to clarify. I’ve got three modules that are all 100% worth. I need to get 70% out of these 3 modules in order to get 70% overall. The third module had 80% exam based and 20% assignment. So I’ve managed o get that 19% of the 20%. It was out of 100 marks but converted my marks to the percentage. So I’m trying to figure what to get in the exam which is 80% meaning marks. So the exam is out of 100 marks
