MMU primary education 2017 timetable

Hi, I wanted to know how the timetable is like for the primary education with qts course. I'm thinking of working part-time so an idea of how it's currently like will help.
Thanks 😊
You won't be able to see your timetable for a few weeks yet but you will find most student jobs nearby are flexible due to being in a student-dominated area.

Hi,

You will be able to access your timetable closer to the start of term by logging into MyMMU at https://my.mmu.ac.uk/Account/Login.

As a guide, the BA (Hons) Primary Education is a full on course, with attendance at university usually required 5 days a week between the hours of 9-6, although exact hours cant be confirmed until your actual timetable is released. When on placement students will be in 5 days a week during and are expected to be in school by 8:15, at the latest, and should not expect to leave until 4:15pm.

I hope this helps! We look forward to seeing you in September

What's the difference between the Ba (hons) degree with maths and the one without?

Does anyone know? I've read both but I'm not sure what the difference apart from the fact u learn more about maths in the other one...

Wudnt u have to learn about the national curriculum subjects in both tho?

I'm taking maths at a-level which is why I'm asking...does anyone have any suggestions of which one to choose and why it wud be better in ur opinion?

Hi,

Both the BA (Hons) Primary Education and the BA (Hons) Primary Education with Mathematics will focus on the all of the National Curriculum subjects, however the Primary Education with Mathematics will have more focus on mathematics within some of the units.

For example in Year 2, the Primary Ed with Maths has two units which focus on the issues around the teaching and learning of Mathematics, whereas the general Primary Education looks at the issues around teaching as whole. Also, with placements, if you were to do the Primary Ed with Maths, we would aim to place you alongside an advanced practitioner in mathematics in at least one of your placements, so that you had the opportunity to learn from existing expertise. In the general Primary Ed, you would be placed alongside a mentor within the school, but they may not necessarily be a specialist within a certain subject.

Both courses will award you with Qualified Teacher Status upon successful completion, so you would be able to go into Newly Qualified Teacher roles within Primary Education, however if you had a desire to become a maths specialist/leader within a primary school, then the Primary Education with Mathematics would give you the edge as you will have done units focusing on teaching and leading in Maths.

I hope this helps. If you have any questions just let me know

Hi,

Yes, you can apply for both courses

We do not require A Level Maths for the Primary Education with Mathematics. We can consider A Levels in any subject for entry on to the course, providing it meets the 112 UCAS points.

I hope this helps!
