Can some pls explain as stuck on this 2 questions
3. You are given the information that 31 x 156 = 4836. Use this to work out the following
using place value
a) 3.1x 15600 =

b)48360 ÷ 3100=

Workings:
31 x 156 = 4836
31 x 15600 = 483600
3.1 x 15600 = 48360

b) 48360 ÷ 3100 = 15.6

Workings:
31 x 156 = 4836
3100 x 156 = 483600
3100 x 15.6 = 48360
Hence, answer is 15.6

thank you but have to show working outs in space value like 3.1 is 10 times smaller and 15600 is 100 times bigger so the result will be 10 times bigger but how do you get to that conclusion mathematics

how do you get the result to be 10 x bigger do you multiply 10 to first number and divide second and then u hbae 310 x156 =which will give you the 48360 result

(a)

3.1 x 10 = 31
15600 ÷ 100 = 156

3.1 x 10 x 15600/100 = 4836
10 x (3.1 x 10 x 15600/100) = 4836 x 10
3.1 x 15600 = 48360

Yes, the same concept applies, but reversed.

(b)
31x100 = 3100
4836 x 10 = 48360

156y x 31x100 = 4836 x 10
156y x 31 = 4836 x 0.1
156y = 156 x 0.1
y = 0.1

answer: 156 x 0.1 = 15.6
