MSc Economics at Univesity of Exter & Scholarship

I'd also be interested in a response from this. I've received scholarships for MSc Economics at Exeter and Durham but not sure whether I should pick these offers over offers from better ranked universities.

Congratulations on you offers and scholarships! By any chance, do you know the maximum scholarship amount being offered by Durham University for the MSc Economics course please?

Thank you and congratulations to you too! My Durham scholarship is a full one (full tution) but I think the most common one is 6k. I was surprised because I didn't even apply for anything, just the course and then they offered it to me yesterday.

That's super! I have 10k award from Exeter not sure whether I will accept the offer as I am not sure of the course's employability and if it is well respected or not.

Hey! I took about 2 months to receive the offer since I applied end of November. I think you have a great chance of receiving the scholarship so I would suggest you apply once you receive the offer. What course are you applying to?

I am applying for MSc Economics and MSc Economics & Econometrics! Did you decide where you will be going to?

Mine only took about 2-3 weeks after applying to receive offers for the MSc Economics and Econometrics as well as the MRes Economics, both at Exeter (applied at the start of January if that helps). Ended declining both offers and the scholarship offer.

I'm still undecided between Exeter and Warwick

I declined the offers as I had much better offers elsewhere, Exeter is decent but not exceptional. Have offers from Warwick, UCL and Nottingham which are all much better, still waiting on Cambridge but am doubtful. Haven't decided yet.

Obviously UCL and Warwick are better than Nottingham but Nottingham is much cheaper and specialises in time-series and macroeconometrics which is what I'm interested in whereas Warwick is quite broad and UCL is micro and econometrics focused. Nottingham is probably the 6th best overall department in the UK for economics whereas UCL is probably 3rd and Warwick is 4/5th so it's a tough one. Also I've already got my grad job as an economist sorted so my master's is more about building skills than signalling to employers

I am considering Warwick due to its ranking too but I lived some time in Coventry and it was not the most pleasant place to stay and that is really putting me off from going there again. Also, I am an international student, so fees are all around the same range of around 20k so a scholarship would really help. Up to my knowledge Warwick is not offering some scholarships as it used to to postgraduates :/

I was actually comparing Warwick and Exeter as well. I know that Warwick is academically better off than Exeter but I was worried about the location of Warwick, which is why I'm more inclined towards Exeter right now.

Exactly my thought and I don't know if its worth it to pay more for better ranked unis given I have a guaranteed job after I finish my masters.

Btw my offer for MSc Economics at Exeter just came in!! I wanna wait for my other offers but I also want to apply for the Global Excellence Scholarship, so could you please tell me how you did it? Like, can I decline my offer after paying the deposit fee and after receiving scholarship?

With regards to deposit fee, I'm not sure as I extended my deposit fee deadline so that I only pay it if I decide for sure that I will be going there. If awarded a scholarship, one of the requirements is to pay the deposit by its deadline.
