Will 700 band 2 be a high enough UCAT for 2022 entry ?

Unless deciles go crazy, it will be well above any cut off to date.
Sheffield do use SJT as a virtual MMI station, so you would drop a mark here

@GANFYD can I clarify your point above regarding SJT being an MMI station? Do you mean that although SJT is not used by Sheffield when they shortlist for interviews the score is used in place of an MMI station?
Many thanks

This is available on their website.

"In addition to the eight stations in the interview, applicants' scores in the UCAT Situational Judgement Test (SJT) will be considered as a ninth virtual station. The UCAT SJT will contribute to the interview score"

@GANFYD would you say a score of 2770 B1 (so average of 692) would be a safe bet? I've looked at previous cutoffs for interview, which were 2690, 2630, 2660, but then I think last year jumped to 2740?!
So hard to know whether this would be a safe bet or a risky one! I'm very interested in your thoughts ☺️

I think a lot of people with UCAT's of 2770-2850 are going to be put off applying to Bristol, Newcastle, Glasgow, etc by the high cut offs for 2021, and the next tier down of UCAT med schools are Sheffield, Manchester, Southampton, SGUL, so it is likely a lot of them will apply to these. We also don't know if they are going to be interviewing fewer people due to deferrals and holding places for those sitting autumn exams, as this would also serve to kep cut offs high. It also depends on the UCAT deciles, to an extendt, as well.
So I wouldn't say it is a safe bet, but there are a lot of people between 2740 and 2770, so you should hopefully be OK
I really want to go to Sheffield for medicine but the cut off is a bit concerning, do you think they would really push it up by 100 again or is that too much of a stretch? I have a score of 2810 so I think I’d be fine unless they increased the cut off from 2021 by a fair jump.
@GANFYD what you’re saying makes sense since it’s what I’m doing tbh, it just makes it a bit uncertain and I’m debating whether it would be safer for unis which much lower cut offs?
I wanted to go to Sheffield since I have a pretty average ok-ish score 2630 b3 tho. but the cut off have scared me and I don't know now where to apply 😭

Hi, if you're thinking about where to apply, this thread is quite good for getting help on that!

I think your score is good enough to get some interviews, e.g. at Anglia Ruskin, Plymouth, Edge Hill, Liverpool (maybe). Do take what I say with a pinch of salt though as while I'd say I'm somewhat confident in the admissions processes now, I'm not an expert like others in the thread!

I'm thinking of Liverpool and Edge Hill already thank you
I've got high gcses and a level predictions (though everyone has so idk) so I'm hoping those will pull up my score

They might at places that score them, but they will make no difference at Sheffield, who are just wanting academics to meet minimum requirements (and ditto for Liverpool and Edge Hill)

I thought Liverpool were scoring now? they score on gcse and ucat range, and then rank scores?

That was last year. This year is GCSE minimum points and if met, then ranked by UCAT

Really? Maybe look again?
"Application Processing
The process is in 4 stages:

Stage 1: Applications are ranked based on the results of the relevant admissions tests. UCAT: all non-graduate applicants applying to A100 www.ucat.ac.uk (Overall score and Situational Judgement Test/Home Students)
GAMSAT: all graduate applicants applying to A100 http://gamsat.acer.org
Stage 2: Those with most competitive admissions test scores assessed to determine which meet/exceed minimum academic criteria
Stage 1 & 2 repeated until interviews are allocated
Stage 3: Highest ranked applicants interviewed
Stage 4: Offer usually competitive interview (31st March)"

From Liverpool website:

https://www.liverpool.ac.uk/media/livacuk/schoolofmedicine/admissions/Finalised,2021-22,,Liverpool,Departmental,supplement.pdf

Stage 2 (meet/exceed minimum academic criteria)

In general, non-graduate applicants are usually expected to have a minimum of 15 points at GCSE- level…For non-graduate applicants applying to the A100 programme, preference may be given to applicants offering higher GCSE scores if borderline decisions need to be made.
Hey, I'm thinking of applying to Sheffield with a UCAT of 2820 Band 2. Bit nervous about cut offs jumping again if people are put off Newcastle and Bristol :/
