i thought paper 1 was horrible!
our teacher hadn't taught us the trig graph we were asked about!
i got 96% in my prelim though, so a pretty good appeal!
i got for the -11, that you cant find the square root of a negative no.
second one was ok though, but i got the surds one wrong!
i finshed the 2nd one at 2.45, but i stayed to the end to check over it about a billion times :L:L
im sure all of yous will have done fine!

ye i found the exam reasonable i guess, although anyway know what question 13 and 14 was on the calculator paper?? i thought it was really hard
Reply 23
q13 was pythagoras and 14 was trig equations

Regards to SQA considering the heat it is very unlikely as I don`t think they take much into consideration unless very serious-e.g. health issues. My thoughts were confirmed after I heard that the principal assessor for History namely a Mrs R****** had said that this is often the case and that passably the heat exhaustion factor should be taken into consideration by putting in place a lower pass mark. Good Luck folks with your results and I’m sure you won’t need it. :smile:

I found it ok, yeah some where hard. Im so spasy, i couldn't do the sphere, like the easiest question, but i think the rest where ok.:yes:

If anyone has the paper, would they possibly be able to scan and upload it? I'd really appreciate it :smile:

I struggled with that too. I don't know if I got the right answer but I think I got something close to it... I struggled doing the calculation in it lol, I knew what to do, I just couldn't do it.

I thought Paper 1 was quite tricky in parts but I acutually quite enjoyed Paper 2 - is that sad?!?! :smile:

I was the same with the Sphere question! Knew how to calculate it but my paper calculations were just nonsense!!
I thought Paper 1 was slightly harder than Paper 2! :frown:

Can anyone post any answers that they know are correct for any of the questions please. Much appreciated thanks

Thank you; would be greatly appreciated :smile:

Well the answers that I can remember are:

In one of the trig questions one side was 8 cm.
An area of what I think was a newspaper holder thing was 1300 cm squared.
48 degrees was an answer to the last question on paper 2.

Something along those lines, did anyone get the same as mine?
Reply 36
Yes, I had the same answers as you Lscott.

On the first paper, in no particular order, here are some of the answers:

For the sphere one I got 113.04.

(p^5)-1
a=45 (the cosine graph)
k=-9 (graph of y=-x^2)
coordinates of Q were (8,0) and b was -9, a=-5

Paper 2:

the value fo the machine was roughly $150000
sectors were 150,200,10 (just multiply by 5, effectively)
the taxi fare was 11
the surd question simplified to 4sqrt(7)
in the sim. eqns, y=-2, x=7 iirc
height of the tunnel was like just over 3 or just over 4m, can't remember which

Aw yes, I remember getting some of those answers DerBoy. Nice to know I am getting a match of answers.

I took the paper away after the exam. These are the questions and the answers i got. I missed a couple out, and some might be wrong.

If i put this (2) it means to the power of. For e.g (3) would be to the power of 3.

Questions and Answers.

Paper 1

1. Find the equation of the straight line (diagram)

Answer - Y=4/-3x+8

2a). Construct a cumulative frequency table.

Answer - size frequency cumulative frequency
5 3 3
6 4 7
7 7 14
8 3 17
9 3 20

b) i) Find the median - 7
ii) The lower quartile - 6
iii) The upper quartile - 8

c) Construct a box plot - Can't do on this.

3). The sphere has a diameter of 6 cm. Calculate it's volume.

Answer - 113.04

4.a) Factorsie x(2) + x - 6

Answer - ( x + 3 ) ( x - 2 )

b) Multiply out the brackets and collect like terms.

Answer - 3x(3) + 17x(2) + 7x - 2

5.) The point (-3,k) lies on the graph
Find the value of k

Answer k= -9

6.) In triangle ABC, AB = 12 cm, sin C = 1/2 and sin B = 1/3

Find the length of side AC

Answer - Couldn't get the answer, i know it's the sine rule but i couldn't work it out

7.) Express p p(2) - p (-3)

Answer - p(5) - p(-1)

8.) Maria has been asked to find the roots of the equation

x(2) + 3x + 5 = 0

a) calculate the value of b(2) - 4ac

Answer = -11

b) Now explain why Maria cannot find the roots

Answer = -11 is a negative number so it cannot be rooted

9. Write the value of A ( cos graph )

Answer - A = 45

10. The equation of the axis of symmetry of the parabola is x = 5

a) State the value of A

Answer = -5

b) P is the point (2,0). Sate the coordinates of Q

Answer = Couldn't do

c) Calculate the value of b

Answer = Couldn't do

Hope this helped
