Should non-medical circumcision of under-18s be banned?

I find it disgusting that in the 21st century we still allow parents to mutilate the genitals of their children for ritualistic purposes. If an adult wants to have part of his penis removed for whatever reason, then let him go ahead, but to enforce it on a defenceless child is abhorrent. It's child abuse, it's sick, and it's a barbaric practice that needs to stop.

I agree, but not strongly enough to elaborate.

I was circumcised when I was under 18 and I have no problem with it.

Stop worrying about my penis and get on with your own life

It is immoral, yes.

I think it should be banned. I mean, lets face it - if i had a child and had the bottom of his earlobe hacked off it wouldn't be considered quite so acceptable yet parents are routinely allowed to get away with mutilating their young infants genitals.

You're an individual example out of millions.

Are you implying we shouldn't fight for the human rights of children, even though they may not be directly related to us?

I'm under 18 ... So, if my mam decides that I have an unacceptable excess of foreskin, she can just have it slashed off without consent? :lolwut: that aint right!

Yes the first thing that comes to mind when someone says human rights is foreskin

I think most people are concerned with combating diseases and poverty which ironically with the prior, circumcision helps to prevent

Mutilate implies it has a detrimental effect when it actually doesn't.

I'm circumcised and quite frankly I think un-cut ones look weirder and like how mine looks
Yes ban it, "ban this filth"

Well it was religion in the first place,
I would most likely have done it in the future because apparently its more hygenic, Might not be off course ...Plus porn stars do it lol

I'm sorry but there are MUCH bigger issues out there than circumcision, and personally I'd rather not (if/when I can help it) busy myself worrying about such relatively insignificant things.

Personally though I'm pretty indifferent towards it, besides women are allowed to make much bigger decissions about their children than circumcission though although that's not a topic I'm awfully bothered about getting into right now =P.
