At Uni, Difference between doing General relaticivity in a maths vs physics class

I was at Nottingham uni yesterday, and asked one of the Prof's what is the module with the most hardcore maths? he said doing GR in the Maths department is much harder than doing it in physics, but I didn't ask why.

So what would be the difference between doing it in Maths Vs Physics department.

Cheers

I would assume that GR taught in a maths department would have a lot more rigorous proofs of all the theorems and identities used. In my GR courses (taught from a physics perspective) we pretty much just accepted most of the maths used and just looked at what the physical results were.
