Hi,
To do the clinical sciences foundation year at Bradford and then to transfer to medicine after first year do you have to fall under widening participation? I don’t fall under the criteria for it so does this mean I won’t be able to do it?
You unfortunately are not able to transfer from Bradford to medicine but you may still pursue clinical sciences. The transfer was created in partnership with Sheffield Hallam university for widening participation students only, so it is essential you must meet 2 or more if the criteria.

I recommend if you do not meet the widening participation criteria and do not have the grades for medicine, resit a-levels and reapply for standard entry to medicine. As somebody who transferred from Hallam to Sheffield for medicine last year, it is very difficult, competitive and stressful and I wouldn't recommend it to most people. Standard entry is much better and you have more chances, possibly consider foundation medicine as well.

Do not hesitate to contact me. wish you all the best with medicine.

Hello, how are you?

I'm sorry for the delayed response. If you don't meet the widening participation criteria you can still transfer to other Medical Schools of your choice - we would recommend before joining the course that you check with the other Medical Schools you are interested in if they are happy to accept our Foundation Year and what requirements you should meet for that Medical School.

I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other questions and I'll do my best to help.

Hiya, my question is could I also apply for pharmacy at the start of the academic year through ucas, in case I am unsuccessful in transferring to Sheffield for medicine in June 2024. This is for 2023 entry.
