Past papers are 100% your best friends!!!! The same questions come up EVERY year but worded slightly or with a different example. And practise questions from your textbook are great. If you can make key concept notes and condense a whole topic into a couple of pages, rote learn these.

What exam board are you doing? I have my last years key concept notes

I've just been reading up on whatever's been covered in the lesson in more depth in my textbooks, then reading over my notes and adapting them if necessary. Then I've been doing some questions on the topics covered and I make a ~2 side revision summary for each sub topic.

Whatever works for you though I guess.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Collins-AS-A2-Science-Chemistry/dp/0007268246/ref=pd_rhf_shvl5 books are an absolute godsend. I used to use lots of different books for chemistry revision, then I realised that this book basically had all that exact information from the other books in it! The same diagrams and everything! and it's small and concise, and has some really good how science works tips  Amazon have it really cheap, I suggest you buy it. They have 1 for each unit, and for bio and physics too.

another good revision guide is http://www.amazon.co.uk/Level-Chemistry-Student-Book-Advanced/dp/0435581341/ref=sr_1_21?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1317594349&sr=1-21, which surprisingly had a lot of example questions exactly the same as my homework questions

And if you want to practice your maths (even if you're really good, it's always best to practice, especially if you're going to do chem a A2 level), then http://www.amazon.co.uk/Calculations-Level-Chemistry-Jim-Clark/dp/0582411270/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1317594653&sr=1-1 is amazing!

Worth the money, all of them.

Best thing is to go through the specification and make a good page of notes for each one! when you've done this and become confident with the learning you can try some past papers which is always a good start! Exam techniques can sometimes be the more difficult part of the course to get around rather than actually knowing the facts. Exams are based on context not fully on contents. x

Hey, I would really appreciate it if I could get some of your notes  I am making my own notes from the AQA Nelson Thonrs AS Textbook.
I am basically just making notes on everything and just making sure I know everything :s.

Anyway thanks

Instead of the first book, I would reccommend this one instead for Unit 1 (available for all the units) - http://www.amazon.co.uk/Student-Support-Materials-AQA-Foundation/dp/0007268254/ref=pd_sim_b_3

Also, the second book looks quite good but it's from 2000 - would you say it still followed the spec or what? I'm looking to get a better textbook than I have currently :L

awww damn I though I posted the link for the one you recommended! sorry about that, the books for each individual units are so much better than the big book for each year.

And yeah, the other books are great! I used them a lot for unit 4 and got an A  Because they're not as new, they contain a lot of stuff that's new as well as old stuff thats taken off and is asked as application questions. If you've seen that kind of material before, it's a lot more helpful than if you go into the exam and see this new application material and have no idea what it's talking about.

Ok thanks, was just worried that book would have stuff in there that has been taken off the spec! Just need a book that's easier to understand than the current AQA endorsed one!

AQA Endorsed- Just means Nelson Thorns paid the most money.

There are other good books, with better understandability. I use the Collins book and really a range of books :s-smilie:.
