Why is my sig image not showing?

I am trying to put a small image onto my sig, I have stored it in my webspace. I then used this code:
[ img ] http://www.seldudet.com/break.gif[ / img ] (no spaces)
to show it, but it only shows the link, why/.?

i sent ollie a pm - here is what he said:
im afraid we've found a bit of a security hole in the software we use to run the forum. the only tempory fix untill it is sorted is to disable img coding. its the same for everyone (inc. me!)
