Accreditation Status of Pet Eng

Hi all,

I've got a friend who is thinking about applying to petroleum engineering at the University of Aberdeen. Thing is, they have asked me if it matters that the course isn't accredited because if it does matter they might consider doing chemical engineering instead.

My assumption is that accreditation is better to have than not, but does it really make any difference in petroleum engineering?

Hi,

I hold an offer for the same degree course at University of Aberdeen. As things stand, no Petroleum Engineering course in the UK is formally accredited, as it's a new program in the UK.

I would like to correct myself, only London South Bank University is accredited by IChemE and The Energy Institute so that's the best option at the moment

I'd forgotten about this thread! Thanks, it's a bit late for my friend (I think they accepted a chem eng programme instead) but all's well that ends well.
