What do you think of idiots like this who keep huge snakes as pets? (video)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KD5sl2qGZpA

Not only the biggest snake I have ever seen in the wild or as a pet, but also if you notice in the video there are baby toys and baby barrier gates in the house which mean there are little toddlers in the same place as this huge snake.

World's biggest snake? World's worst parent?

My teacher's friend kept a huge snake in her house; let the snake be uncaged and even let the snake to sleep in her bed. Anyways, for one week the snake stopped eating - would refuse fresh meat etc and a week later the snake's owner decided to go and get advice from some specialist...Apparently the snake was starving itself as it was saving room for a huge dinner.
Guess who :ninja:

But how do snakes think of stuff like that, considering they are not intelligent enough or capable of cognitive thought? They are basically useless creatures, like cockroaches. They act based on instinct and stimuli. So what causes a snake to starve itself for a meal in the future? Must be something else like shedding its skin or something that causes it to stop eating, not just a long term game plan to kill its owner.

And the specialist say that snakes like that wait for a week before consuming the victim; so the friend's teacher was lucky to go and see the specialist right on the 7th day/last day of the week

Aren't you meant to get rid of snakes once they're a year or two old?

Nope; if they see a tasty and a big meal, they'd starve themselves to make room for such feast.
Anyways, that's what I was told :getmecoat:

Well I wouldn't call them an idiot lest they let their pets go all Nagini on your ass.

Stupid. Then there's an outcry if it attacks them and a description of the snake/tiger/wolf/whatever 'going rogue'.

No it didn't 'go rogue' it went snake, because shock horror, it's designed to kill.

Probably
But, I mean who would sleep with them, in the same bed? The owner really needed to get bf or life.

That's scary, imagine waking up being strangled by your own pet snake, or even worse, engulfed by the thing!
Did she get rid of it?

Bit of a step down from sleeping with 8ft long snakes to sleeping with a 6inch long snake :colondollar:
Can we stop going off topic and comment solely on the video I posted in the OP. Thanks.

Oh yeah; she totally got rid of it. :yep: I'd imagine it would be pretty stupid not to after hearing something like that
Exactly though! But that's why animals like that are really not meant to be kept as pets
The weirdest pet I had was a hedgehog, which is unusual, but even he wasn't such a threat as those huge, long snakes

Yes, it really would have been
Having this conversation is making me have second thoughts about keeping my pet anaconda in my bath..

You think snakes don't possess cognition..?

I had a friend who had loads of snakes but they were all caged (can you call a glass box a cage?) anyway none of them ever harmed anyone or anything but I still wouldnt trust them,

Always seen this as a predator and a harmful type of animal that shouldnt realy be kept as pets (imo)

That being said you'd come out worse if a strong dog went bad and got ya, thankfuly the only pet like that in my family is a rotweiller and its docile as baby.
