Rejected postgrad application!

I don't know what to do, I applied to do the Investigative and Forensic Psychology MSc at the university of Liverpool and have just been notified that my application was rejected. I want to do this course more than anything, and I know you are able to resubmit your application if you have further information to provide.
I think the main reason for the rejection is down to my progress report I gave them because my grades for each module in my second year was 40% as I had to do referrals due to failed essays as I was having a difficult time coping with anxiety (which I didnt realise I had at the time, if I did I could of had deferrals instead) on the referrals I did I mainly got 68% on each piece of coursework but obviously its capped at 40%.
I have emailed Liverpool asking for feedback as to why I was rejected and adivce for resubmission but has anybody else experienced this, and what did you do? did you manage to get on the course you wanted?
