Studying in Australia or the UK?

Guys, I wonder why students in most Pre-U colleges in Malaysia are so into going to the UK to study Pharmacy degree. Is there really any difference between the UK universities and the Australian universities? I've done research on this and it seems like students are making their decision based on the rankings of the universities, obviously universities like Imperial College London and UCL have better reputations in that sense due to the many research done by the universities,but are they really better than the Australian universities such as University of Queensland in producing excellent pharmacists? Is the ranking of universities really that important,guys? My aunt doesn't even know Imperial College London, she knows only Harvard and Oxford. So,what do you think?
