Year Abroad - Study or Language Assistant?

Not sure if this is the right place to post but hey ho.

I'm in my first year of studying French at uni. I don't have to decide about my year abroad for a while, however, I have to select my 2nd year modules soon, and my options vary depending on what I choose to do during my year abroad.

I never really considered doing anything other than studying, but one of my module options sounds awesome, but is only open to those who plan to work as a Language Assistant, and now I'm considering that.

So basically what I'm asking is: what are the positives and negatives of either option? If anyone has personal experiences that'd be great.
