Let
A =

2, 1
3, -1

Show that A^2 = A + 5I and hence and A^6 as a linear combination of A and I. (I is a identity matrix of 2x2)

solution is 96A + 205I. How?

Solution here.

It's called MathType. It's especially for typeing maths symbols and equations. It's got templates for Algebra, Derivatives, Stats, Matrices, Sets, Trig and Geometry.
You can save your work as GIF files, and import them into Word.
It's pretty handy
