The Student Room Group
did you do gcse ICT?

you basically
1) find a problem for someone; a company a friend family member, taht you can effectively solve for them
2) find out what they want from the program, what it must be able to do, through an interview
3) build a prototype; can be made in anything, powerpoint wtih hyperlinks etc
4) show theh prototype to the peroson your making it for
5) redefine the objectives of your program to suit these
6) look in more detail at the problem your solving, data types you will use etc
(step 6 will obviously be more detail at HL, i cant help im onnly SL)
7) mke the program. including as much help as possible for the user, taht means preventing any and every type of bug, including validating their entries etc, it must also include 10 of 15 mastery factors (differs for HL) from a list. there are other criteria also (SL 500 - 2k lines) (HL 1500 - 3k) i believe, not sure about HL though
*as far as we have got*
8) random bits of showing it to teacher
9) show it to tthe person its made for discuss it with interview etc
10) evaluation and conclusion

you also have to make a manual for use i believe

our teacher recommends we make databases as its easier to get the mastery factors. as an SL student i have almost done all my programming. im on about 1500 lines, i made a database for a tennis club. i used the basic taught code and the sun library to help me find more stuff that i could include.

any more quesitons as...hope this helps
