I would say seriously not 2 worry liverpools interview doesnt seem like an interview they make it fun! The interviewers are really nice! I totally messed up one station and i still have an offer. I think they are testing what you are like as a person more than the other unis who ask you horrible questions! Oneslty itl be fine! There is not much revision that can be done...only the speech! good luck:smile: x x x x
cool sounds like fun  just be myself

yep thats the best way  and i would say, don't make your talk thing too formal/over rehearsed else you could end up sounding like you're just reciting a pre written statement instead of getting across your passion for being a vet etc!! hope it all goes ok for you, good luck

You still need and intresting case. No Essay, but just remember key symptoms, facts and causes of your 'intresting' case.

Ive got an awesome "interesting case" lol, saw on tortoise spay, now that was weird! The vet described it as 98% carpentry, 2% surgery! lol, tho thats not exactly the types of thing most vets encounter generally so maybe ill think of a more normal "interesting case". I could describe a puppy that I saw having its leg pinned back together after being trodden on by a cow! What do people think? Tortoise or puppy?! lol

Tiny Tiger, Ill tell you one which I explained.

A dog which came in presenting signs of diabeties (increased water drinking, urination, protein in urine... the usual) any this lead to a diagnosis of the animal actually getting old. In the sense that it's brain wasn't working properly which presented itself in routine movements, like drinking going into the living room, going into the kitchen, and drinking again - the dog was stuck in a loop My vet told me to think of dog alzheimerz, it didn't know where it was. Adding to this the dog was deaf.

Anyway after the comsulation they went away and came back to have the dog euthanised. I thought it was a good choice as its showed 2 things, ethics and how illnesses can mask others... like one seemingly simple symptom of excessive drinking umbrellaed. Well they seemed to like it, I got a place after all the next day. .
well im lukn 2 find out what life is like when just starting as a 1st yr undergraduate at vet school!wats it like hardly knowing ne1?do u make friends quickly?is the work hard compared to a levels and is it in neway related to a levels? do u get 2 do much practicals or is it all jus borin lectures? hope sum1 can reply, cheers

Lol thanx! Think Im gonna go with my puppy one. Its an interesting case even tho it doesnt really have any underlying things. You cant really mistake a broken leg, this pup looked like it had an extra joint poor thing! They were discussing amputation with the owners so i spose i could bring up the pros and cons of each choice from a welfare point of view. Think the tortoise is a bit too unusual tho. Anyway thanx for your advice!

When you sit down at the station they say give a short account of an interesting case and then after they ask you questions...my questions where not directly related to the case but about procedures that have to be carried out etc! The puppy or the tortoise one would be good. It being different might not be a bad thing aslong as you can talk confidently about it. It might make you stand out abit!
Reply 76
Good point, I can talk about both quite well, one of the vets i work with is an exotics specialist hence the tortoise spay. The reason I wanted advice is because I was speaking to a different vet who has friends at vet schools and he said that as a tortoise spay wasnt something the average vet would come across regularly, if at all, I might come across as a bit idealistic. On the other hand, exotics is what I ultimately want to end up doing. Oh well, at the end of the day its only one station and if i dont say what they want to hear I can just try my best at the other stations!
Reply 77
I duno what would be best but i dont think you can go wrong with either as long as you know the facts. If you decide on the tortoise one you could say to the interviewer that you chose that as your case cos you want to specialise in exotics later on? They ask you to describe an interesting case so if its interesting to you they arent going to give you less marks i would say.....dont take my word tho...Im not the interviewers!
Reply 78
lol, ill hav to think about it, thanx for the advice anyway xxx
Reply 79
as long as its reasonably interesting and you know about it in depth i don't think it matters which you choose! i talked about a jersey bullock i work with who is 13 with a lung tumour and his long term treatment so it doesn't matter if its slightly random!
