there is a rule which can easily be proven or verified which say.

if you have to integrate a quotient and the numerator is the exact derivative of the denominator then the answer is the natural logarithm of the denominator.

here they multiplied the numerator by 2 and pulled 1/2 outside to get the "rule going"

The simplest way to see this is to differentiate something like

ln(ekx+1)ln(e^{kx} + 1)

where k is a constant, and see what form the answer comes out as :smile:
