How to take notes without writing loads?

I am really struggling due to note taking, it's always been a downfall for me. To further add to my struggles is the fact I study via distance learning, so I rely heavily on video tutorials. I find that information isn't sitting in due to the large amount of text I am writing out, but funny enough it all seems relevant. Does anyone have any general tips that may be of some help to me?

shorten things like :
surface area = SA
voltage gated sodium channels = VGSC
concentration = conc.
etc.

also read and understand everything before you start your notes, then everything you already have prior knowledge about (like what is a concentration gradient) just ignore that or put like one bullet point on it, anything actually relevant write it.

Make notes that ANSWER the specification point

so if the spec point is "why do large organisms require transport systems"

write why they require transport systems, don't copy out the entire spread about what large organisms are, what transport systems are etc, only why they are required by large organisms, in bullet points
