Break in study - Help

Hello,

This is my first post, but I just wanted to ask some advice from people who might be experiencing the same thing.

Im in my second year of journalism and so far I am getting an average of 2:1 in my assessments. However I have been diagnosed with chronic migraines, and they have gotten much worse since xmas and it is making it impossible for me to continue with he course.

I want to take a break in study however I have been told that sf will stop funding and I will be put in around £2300 of debt from paying back my current loan on top of my rent.

My question is about what calissifes as mitigating circumstances and what that really means. Student support have suggested I apply for this but I don't really know what it involves and what my options are. Ringing sf has been u helpful and there's little to no info online. I have an appointment to see financial service support next week. If anyone has gone through something similar I'd really appreciate any advice you could give me.
