I am confused.

I'm re-reading "The Crucible" at the moment but I just don't understand Parris' motive .What is in it for him?! Why does he want the 91 people who signed the testament about the goodness of Rebecca, Elizabeth and Martha, to be brought in and questioned? Is it just because he doesn't want Proctor to win?

I don't know!
