Can't stay at 6th form due to chronic illness

So during my GCSEs I was off I'll for about a month during my mock examinations in year 10 with appendicitis, but all became well and I had a speedy recovery enabling me to continue studying. However I still wasn't up to full health as I was diagnosed with chrones disease causing me to have a colostomy bag. This took a lot of getting used to and my school was very unsupportive. I felt very uncomfortable in class and in my exams because I wasn't allowed to go to the bathroom and requests to the school to have bathroom breaks in exams were refused. I had to do my exams feeling very sick but not getting any help.

Despite this my grades were okay, I got A*, A, A, B, B,C, E, D, 7, 5

Anyway, the requirements for A levels at my school is 5 Bs which I have. My D is in music and my E is in Sport (was too I'll really for this subject)

The subjects I wanted to take were maths, Art and music. I can not do music because of the D grade but they would not even let me do BTEC music despite the fact that I have grade 5 in theory and grade 7 fluet.

Annyway I tried to apply for 6th form at my current school and I was told that because of my attendance issues they don't want me to stay for 6th form there at all!!! Apparently I have been a burden to members of staff by asking for extra help because of my illness and they dont want me to pull the grades down with the reputation of the school. I was also told that I do not have a very good work ethic and they are not having me at the school.

Is this allowed?

I have looked at other colleges in the area and non of them offer the subjects I would like to do. Is there anything I can do? Could I appeal against this? Im really stuck and I currently have nowhere to go in September

Your school's actions are both horrible and completely illegal. If possible, I would raise the issue with the school's board of governors, or another similar management level.

This is discrimination and therefore, illegal as per the Equalities Act 2010.

This is very wrong of them, illegal even. Similar happened to me, and I wish I'd fought it. Raise it with the board of governors and I'd also speak to the local council about it. If it doesn't get you anywhere, a push from your local MP might do the trick

I can empathise with you, as my school is very unsupportive with my illnesses too, refused toilet breaks, have attendence issues and told to my face that my work ethic is sh*t. I mean, unfortunately that's how the education system here works.

You could file a complaint and have your doctor write a letter to the school and to the exam board. Maybe you could contact the examination board for a retake, making sure they cater to your specific needs? You can also talk to the head of the 6th forms/ colleges you have applied to or to the admissions departments. Maybe you could ask what other subjects you could do? For example, usually photography a- level has no requirements. Other things you could do is take up an apprenticeship, traineeship, or an NVQ course (http://www.nvqcourse.co.uk/).
