Getting rid of computer virus

I need some help. My laptop has some issues lately. It freezes, it crashes, things load slowly. I think it’s highly likely I have a virus. I tried many anti viruses out there, clean ups, etc. still not getting better. Does anyone know a full proof way of getting rid of viruses? My laptop is fairly new, only like a year old, so its behaviour is not normal.

Rewrite the Master Boot Record first. that might help. Failing that, reformat it and fresh install Windoze (or whatever OS you;re running).

Pain in the arse, but will work in 99.9% of cases .

If not backed up, yes. Necessary sacrifice.

IDK, it sounds like a hardware issue more than a virus tbh

MBR (this is where a lot of nasties hide and avoid antivirus proggies).

I guess this works for reformat etrc. Someone might have time to give a better account, I'm just on my way the pub else I'd do it myself.

Yep, I've had things hide there and reinfect the whole network in the past. very annoying.

Could well be, yes.
Open up the disk drive and feed it a lemsip or even an antibiotic if need be

I find it most often than not that when people say they have a VIRUS on their PC/Laptop because it start's to run slow is that the computer Hardware itself cannot handle what your trying to throw at it. Look at the specs, are they OK for what you are doing with your Laptop. If indeed it is a Virus just Reinstall your OS and Format your HD in the process.
Done :h:
Download the trial version of Malwarebytes (premium version) and run a scan.
In that case, it's probably running slow from the age of the computer. You could try and factory reset it in the BIOS. All computers degrade over time, but I find laptops do significantly faster compared to desktops PC's.

Edit: mb it's kinda new lol. You should try factory resetting the laptop.

Are you sure it's not overheating?

Most likely your hardware is getting out of date and you need to invest in a new computer. New desktops can be clocked around 4 ghz and 16 gb ram. You can even get laptops with desktop performance such as MSI laptops (but used primarily for gaming but honestly these will get the job done) - also have some good cooling which will prevent overheating issues and any slowing of the system

Put in safe mode and do a scan using Lavasoft.

I had one of those viruses where they ask money to unlock your computer and managed to get rid by doing this.
have you tried http://combofix.org ?

i use it as a last resort
I think you can buy usb cooling pads (which you sit your laptop on top of) which blow air into the bottom of your laptop to help with cooling.
you are right... the combofix guys recommend something called Plumbytes.org :

Time for a laptop upgrade bud, I suggest the MSI GE62VR 7RF get a stable 60 FPS (unplugged&plugged) on most games I have tested. Comes with a GTX 1060 and I7 7700 processor which can be overclocked to 3.8 GHz by using the MSI dragon control centre. Works like a charm for doing work also gets the job done (however battery life isn’t that good when unplugged with brightness for led keyboard and screen at high running the computer in turbo and sport mode) but on eco with the brightness for keyboard and screen at a reasonably low level it can last 3+ hours.
