The Scandanavian countries seem to do well on all measures of competence.

However, it is Finland that consistently tops the table for best/most successful education system.

Yes, that's about what I would have thought too. My guess would have been pitched in the general direction of the Netherlands and the Scandinavian countries.

nope nowhere near the "best" , although if you limit it to higher eduation i would say pretty close to the top

Well considering Britains only a small country i'd say 2 world class universities is an achievement. America has loads of decent unis mostly because it's so big there's so many uni's to choose from, some were bound to be excellent.

Which is clearly indicated by looking at Russia or China's universities.

It might help if you think before typing next time.

Well you made out that 2 decent unis is pathetic cos your sitting on your high horse in America thinking that our education system is nothing in comparison to yours. But looking at the size of America then think about exactly how many great unis there actually are its not that great to be honest.

So how about you think before you talk next time, and if you geniuinely don't like the UKs education system don't come onto a mostly British website to talk about education just so you can sit there and think of yourself as a higher classed citizen, when really ur just an arrogant piece of crap.

Don't forgot "whilst idly selling her socialist principles out to a capitalist society."

Or perhaps you are engaged in converting the masses to a better system.

The problems start even before chidren embark on their formal education.

It is at pre-school age that strategies are being implemented to ensure that those from socio-economically disadvantaged backgrounds do not go on to fulfill a depressing prophecy of lack of attainment and lack of aspiration; with a consequent lack of interest in education - poverty of spirit leads to intellectual poverty.

That problem can't be unique to the UK though can it?

I know your British, you've stated it many a time but since moving to America you've obviously become extremely cynical about British education and believe that Americas is better churning out a load of statistics and no qualitative data to support your argument, because when people do bring up qualitative research you just sit up there on your statistics looking down on anyone who can't achieve 5 GCSEs as if they're inferior to you no matter what the reasoning may be. I don't like attacking people but when it comes to people who's main prupose to come on this website seem's to be making sarcastic comments every now and again and attacking people, it can't be helped.

I went to a British school, I know how easy 5 Cs at GCSE is, you really do have to have something wrong with you not to get that. Did you manage to pass GCSE English? You don't seem to know how to use apostrophes.

As for my purpose on this site, I suppose that is better than yours, which seems solely to be making stupid points in threads far above your intellectual level and expecting people to make allowances for you.
I did get my GCSE English thanks sorry if i don't see the point in using good grammer on here when there's no point, i mean this is just a silly little web site to chat to people who appear to think they have a higher intelligence than everyone else. I think this is the only place where intelligent people can actually make fubn and bully people because in the real world its the other way round.

As for stupid points i think you made it clear that your the less intellectual person on here by thinking 2 great uni's in a small country is pathetic. Also the fact the only insult you could come up with was about my grammer pffft i've heard 6 year olds come up with better insults. I wonder how many people you've put down about grammer who are actually dyslexic? I guess you don't really care as long as you come out looking more "intelligent".

Why is there no point using decent grammar? As far as I can see there's no excuse for the wrong version of "your" or adding an apostrophe to "seems". You don't have to think, it just comes, and don't give me the crap about it taking extra time because it really doesn't.

You'd prefer me to call you a big doodoohead instead? I'm sorry that I don't stoop to the level of, and I quote, "really ur [sic] just an arrogant piece of crap".

Btw, I don't think I have a higher level of intelligence than anyone else, I know I have a higher level of intelligence than you.

ps. You spelt "grammar" wrong.

Hmmm i didn't know intelligence could be measured on abit of typing on an internet site. Or is typing and english the only thing you're actually good at so a websites the only place where you can prove your intelligence.

It seems on this web site the people who do get portrayed as the most intelligent are those that can argue and debate better and those people don't usually debate more just shoot people down for the sake of it, which to me isn't intelligence just plain arrogance. If this is the only place you feel you can validate yourself i feel quite sorry for you to be honest.

I "shot you down" because your debating skills are, to be frank, crap. You've displayed this numerous times across many different threads and you have shown little improvement. Secondly last time we got into this little scuffle you said much the same things then ran off in a huff. Maybe you just can't take criticism?

I can tell you for a fact my debate and discussion abilities might not be perfect but they're still a hell of a lot better than your one liners and dribbling daily mail-esque sentiments. I think the cannibalism thread more than backs me up here.
cpj1987
'Can you learn the mark scheme and blag your way through?', you don't actually need to KNOW what you're talking about, just regurgitate what the examiners want to hear
.

One would hope that cpj1987 got 100% on each module, in the top five hardest subjects to learn at a-level. If you were posting that comment on the A-level discussion i'm sure you'll get many posts that simply disagree with you!

Way too much attitude
Cannibalism thread? I seriously don't remember posting in a thred on cannibalism :s-smilie:

Lou my advice get a spell checker add on. And Thud derailing a thread with grammar advice, I remember a time when you'd complain about people derailing threads with spelling advice to you. Shame on you. Any more of it and I'll turn my spell checker off, that'll piss you off :p:

People saying its all the parents fault it's the way society is now. Are we sure that poor by the numbers education wasn't what created this chav culture in the first place? After all it only arose since the labour government got into power. Not saying it's purely the government but they have to take a fair amount of blame I think.

What do my modules marks/grades etc have to do with it?
I never once said A-Levels were easy, I just think they're testing the wrong skills
