When I was applying I had a lot of doubt as to whether my grades were good enough and how well I'd need to do to compensate. This is a page where offer holders can put down their grades/ scores to hopefully show people with less than perfect grades or the odd retake here and there that it is possible to get an offer from Oxbridge.

Please use template below. I'll start!
Oxford or Cambridge: Oxford
Course: English
College: SJ
GCSEs: 6A*ABC
A Level achieved/ predicted: A*AA
Admissions Assessment if applicable: Yes, ELAT: 50

Oxford or Cambridge: Oxford
Course: Law
GCSEs: None (international student)
IB achieved: 32/45 (so way below the Oxford requirements, thought that's going to reject me)
Equivalent to A*A*A* predicted in national qualifications (taking them first time)
LNAT: unknown at the time

Done. However although the universities are similar they are different. It's much more important for potential applicants to identify the course they prefer than the admissions process.

And there are Decision Threads in both universities forums with a huge number of current offer holder (and rejectees) academic profiles:
* Cambridge
* Oxford

Oxford or Cambridge: Oxford
Course: Graduate Law
College: Pembroke College
GCSEs: 5A* 5A
A Level achieved: BBB(b) (with some mitigating circumstances)
Degree: Engineering @ Manchester Uni, MSc @ UCL
Admissions assessment: LNAT - tbc, but was getting c.34 in practices and I think my essay went pretty well.

I hope this goes to show that GCSE's and A-level's aren't the be all and end all - I got an Oxford offer for undergrad with crap AS levels (b, c, d, & e), and only missed out because I didn't deal with my mitigating circumstances properly and get the required A-level grades.
If you do well in entrance tests, write a banging personal statement, and get a great recommendation, then you're in with a chance.

It's about your potential aptitude and your passion; not just how you look on paper.
