Best Accommodation Manchester Metropolitan University

I'm starting a Master's Degree in English Degree specialising in the Gothic next September at the Manchester Metropolitan University and I'm wondering which hall would be best for me. I'm 27 and an international student from Geneva, Switzerland. I'll have to study a lot and I'm rather too old to party like a fresher but I still want to make friends, go out, etc (I'm a very sociable person and I can't say no to a good pint). I've heard that Cavendish Place is a good option with 51-week contracts but I don't know about the social aspect of it whereas other places like Birley might be too hectic for me because it's mostly first years, right?
Help?
Thanks
