Maths Question Help!

five positive integers have:
a mode of 9
median of 7
mean of 6
what's the greatest possible range of five values?

You have 5 integers.

The median for an odd number of numbers, n is (n+1)/2 so here the 3rd number must be 7.

You know 9 is the mode, so you must have at least 2 number 9s. So: x1, x2, 7, 9, 9

The mean is 6 so the sum of the 5 numbers is 30 hence x1 + x2 = 5

You want to maximise the range so x1 has to be as small as possible within the defined limits..

I think you should b able to go from there
