Level 3 BTEC Engineering problem

A car accelerates 1500 metres down an incline of 1 in 10, at 0.25 (m/s^2). The car has a mass of 2 tonnes and resistance to motion is 150 Newtons.

Determine:
a) the tractive effort required by using D'Alembert's principle?
b) The tractive effort required by using the Conservation of energy?
c) Compare and contrast the methods used, in part a) and b), to solve this problem.
