Do I get an A* in further maths in this case?

I heard that we get an A* in maths by scoring 480/600 overall and 180/200 in C3 and C4. Also, my teacher told me that my best modules will count towards 480/600 apart from my further pure modules.

And I’m also aware that I need to score 480/600 in my further maths modules to get an A and 270/300 from my best 3 further A2 modules.

I don’t quite get which one takes priority in terms of ‘best modules’

So, If I score,

C1:93 C2:100 C3:95 C4:85
M1:89 M2:88
S1:50 S2:90 S3:85
FP1:97 FP2:90 FP3:90

Will my S2 move into single maths module and S1 to further maths?

If it does move, it’ll be A*A, if it doesn’t, it’ll be A*A*

So what happens in this case?

With those scores, they would put M1 and S1 into Maths as that would easily take you past 480. In Maths you either need two Applied modules ending in 1 or two of the same sort, e.g. M1 and M2 or S1 and S2.

This would leave S2 FP2 and FP3 to get the A* for FM. The exam board will do the best for you that they can with the allowable combinations.

Are you taking all of the modules this year? If you took any last year, your AS Maths AS FM or A level Maths that you took last year should be re-cashed in this year so that the modules can be moved around. If this is necessary, talk to your school Exams Officer.

As other people have said modules will be moved around (to the extent that they can) in order to give you the best grades. As far as I know the order of priority is, highest possible maths grade, highest further maths grade then best ums in maths
