Should I do History A Level Without the GCSE?

So I am in Year 11, hoping to study PPE degree (maybe at Oxford but who knows). I've chosen Maths, English Literature, History/Geography, and Psychology as my A-Levels. I've done Geography GCSE, but I feel like History A-Level would be more beneficial for me. My college says that I don't have to have studied History GCSE to do it at A-Level. Should I do it? Any History A-Level students that can give me advice on how it is (essay work, coursework, etc)?

You have so much time to think about this, the actual time when you get to decide is after you receive your results.
Choose A-levels that you will enjoy, and I'm sure it wont have coursework and will be essay based
