Just a note to all those currently applying in time for the early deadline (15th October for Medicine or Oxbridge)... It's NOT necessary to decide on all 5* choices now if you are applying to hit the deadline. An Oxbridge applicant can add your other choices at any stage, indeed it can be a good strategy to keep back a couple of choices until AFTER you receive your Oxbridge decision in early January.

*And for Medicine you can similarly hold back your final non-Medicine choice.

However you can't change any other aspect of your application - so your PS and Reference remains the same throughout.

Durham are ALWAYS disastrously slow.
Newcastle were the quickest for me when applied. Offer within 24 hours.

It's worth noting some universities use a "gathered field" admissions process for some of their courses. So no matter when you apply you won't get a decision back until after the 15th January main deadline.
