TSR Food Week 2018: Cooking for Mindfulness

Today we're thinking about:

Cooking for Mindfulness

Cooking is one of our everyday activities. For some, it can be a chore, for others it is a relaxing activity, and one they look forward to.

One of the newer ideas in mental health is cooking for mindfulness. This involves cooking in a slow, relaxed way, paying attention to each and every step. You are also encouraged to take more notice of each of the sounds and smells while you are cooking. The idea is that this can help you to become more patient and also more present in the moment.

You can find more information on mindful cooking on the Headspace website here:

What do you think of mindful cooking? Is this something you would try?
My former uni mental health adviser used to encourage me to try mindful cooking. She claimed she was a big fan of it herself (rather suspicious, given she was clearly anorexic, but meh).

I'm not much of a cook but I would like to learn to cook once I'm a bit further along in my "recovery journey", to become a bit more indepedent. I'd have to be supervised though
