Past, Present and Future Decisions

Hello, I don't know what my best option is regarding where I currently am and where I want to be in a few years time.

I have put a lot of thought into my current state, but I don't know what is best for me.

I didn't do the A-Levels I wanted to do at school, Physics and Maths particularly.

Because of this I got demotivated, (wasted) these two years doing my second choice a levels, and ended up getting bad grades at them.

I am now in a Foundation year for Engineering at Uni of Herts. This year is not quite as well organised, because of how all colleges in the surrounding area work together to put it up. This leads to miscommunication between the University and the colleges (eg, late marking, general ambiguity and lack of organisation).

My current goal is to get into Acoustic Engineering. I applied to Southampton, I was really enthusiastic, I had finally found something I was genuinely interested in. But I didn't get the grades required for their foundation year.

I have asked if I could reapply after this year but they turned it down, as the modules taught this year wouldn't be enough to lay the foundation for the Beng course at Soton.

I and currently thinking of applying to other universities, such as Brunel and City, Uni of London(as well as staying at Hertfordshire) to do either Mechatronics or Electrical and Electronic Engineering for a Beng, then specialising into Acoustics later on. I could apply for the Msc in Acoustics at Soton if I get a First or Upper class Beng Degree.

I got thrown into the thought of studying A levels at home, such as Maths and further maths, but I don't think It would be viable as I have already wasted time and self teaching seems daunting.

I get demotivated at my current foundation year due to where I could be but also with how it is regarding the teaching at college. I could pass this year and then try hard in the first second and third year.

Are there any other opportunities, or options that could be viable? Or is my best option to stay in Hertfordshire sit my bum down and study hard, to get to where I want to be.
