Is it better being depressed about the past or laughing about the past right now?

Like sometimes I remember sad things and bang on about that and other times I laugh about something that makes me laugh and it's about the past. Like sometimes I am laughing by myself.

Obviously it depends on your personal experience, but I would say that avoiding to think about the past entirely is the best way to go. This is what works for me I have had bad experiences but also good ones, though I try not to think of anything from the past and just focus on the present and future. Don’t know if this is particularly helpful.
