Gothic story- Homework pleeease help!!!

Hi Ive started the beginning of a short gothic story but i need help finishing it off
Here it is:
A cold,silent night, a faint glow settled on the castle, the rain fell down on the gravel outside and a damp musty smell surrounded it.The castle had been abandonded for several decades, the tapestries inside fraying, the stone gargoyles weathered down to mere stump and the once neatly kept gardens overgrown into a deadly jungle of dangerous insects abd life-threatning plants. No one had been here for decades or so they all thought....

No one had been here for decades.

So where did the fresh footprints lead? And why was the rusty gate to the castle tombs swinging loose on its hinges?
