Yes, the borders were temporarily closed for those journeys that were not 'essential'. The railways were crowded, due to millions of people flocking into the 'new' country.

Many west Germans were also angry that all of their jobs were being taken by the easterners, and the easterners in turn were angry that many of their loyal doctors etc were flocking to the west!

There was also fighting between the two sets of people. "Ausländerfeindlichkeit" ?? oder.. vielleicht "Fremdfeindlichkeit". Warum soll man Kämpfen über die Wiedervereinigung?

Zuerst, gibt es jetzt mehr Arbeitsplätze in den Westens. Das bedeutet, dass ... bla bla bla.
