Dentistry EPQ

I'm really confused as to what topic I should do my Dentistry EPQ on as dentistry itself is so broad. I want to talk about a topic that is not discussed a lot therefore mine standing out. Any ideas on what I should do it on?

Orthodontic transplantation is a very interesting topic

I'm doing a dentistry EPQ and and leaning towards doing it about root canals as I'm very interested in this topic. However, I don't think there's a lot to say considering I have to write 5000 words on it. I am also thinking about doing endodontics after I specialise so would me doing an EPQ directly related to a topic about endodontics be useful or would it matter about what I want to do after the dentistry degree? Also if I do a controversial matter in dentistry and take the opposing side would that make unis push me away as I am supporting the other side of dentistry?

Thank you! But as I'm wanting to do the dentistry degree would this be okay to talk about as doing orthodontics would be specialising after the dentistry degree itself?
Taking the opposing side of a controversial issue in dentistry would not get you rejected during interviews - in fact it may be an interesting topic of conversation between you and the interviewers. Just make sure you can justify your choice so that you sound informed. What is this controversial issue, can I ask?

The specific topic of your EPQ doesn't matter so much - and to be honest the weighting dental schools place on an EPQ varies. If you're finding it hard to create an EPQ on endodontics, you can easily explore another dental topic without any repercussions.

Thank you for the help!!! As of yet I'm not sure about any controversial topics but I just thought if I had one there would be more to write about. Have you got any ideas as to what I should write about preferably something interesting so I could write more about it

Some current or recent research in dentistry includes:

Demineralisation and remineralisation of teeth and the use of various agents to prevent caries (e.g. bio-glass, silver diamine fluoride). This is actually quite an important topic in dentistry and if you were to do an EPQ on this, you'd have a massive head start on this when you get round to learning it at dental school

Bone regeneration in periodontal surgical therapies

The role of regenerative medicine in dentistry (i.e. stem cell research)

Maybe also do a quick google search about new and upcoming areas of dentistry to get some ideas
